1. NAILED IT!
There are a slew of beauty salons but none stand out quite like Fancy Claws. Based in Musgrave, Durban, the beauty house is theee go-to place for cutting-edge nailcare & design, eyelashes, braiding, wigs and weave installations. Founding Partner and self-taught nail technician Thobile Jele, tells us that the throngs of #BossLadies who frequent the salon can’t get enough of the nail accessories and nail art on offer. From shapes including ‘stiletto’, ‘coffin’, ‘ballerina’- and other key trends like this ‘nelfie’ that’s currently taking Dubai by storm – there’s enough variety for all #BossLadies to sink their claws into!
Another trend that’s raising eyebrows for all the right reason is Microblading. This is a technique where semi-permanent tiny strokes are tattooed to your own natural brows, to shape and fill them out. Whilst the procedure is typically more expensive than threading or tweezing, the beauty of it is that it last between 18 months and 3 years – a small price to pay for eyebrows (semi-permanently) on fleek!
3. MATTE LONGWEAR LIPSTICK
25-year-old Connie Bhebhe was born to a South African father and a Zimbabwean mother. Having grown up in Canada, she recently moved back to South Africa to launch a premium matte lipstick brand, that’s closing in on cosmetic lines including Kylie Cosmetics! So #BossLady!
She is refreshingly not shy to admit that she’s a newbie to make-up. And achieving an ‘easy, everyday make-up look’ can be just as daunting for her as it is for the rest of us. “I’m learning that I need to start with a primer and toner just to set the makeup. I also blend two different foundations to match my skin tone (I prefer Maybelline and L’Oréal). This is because various factors can contribute to a change in our skin tone. This could lead to your foundation looking lighter or darker from time to time. The last tip would be to find the right lipstick colour that you could wear as your signature everyday look – especially for days when you just don’t have the time to do a full makeup look!
