‘SLAYING MOUNTAINS FOR BRUNCH’: ZAMANTUNGWA KHUMALO (part 2)

27-year-old Zamantungwa Khumalo has her hands full as the new Supplements & Special Projects Editor at the Mail & Guardian – a role that sees her putting together its annual 200 Young South Africans Report. Having broken barriers as Executive Producer at Power FM at just age 25, we found out how this #BossLady winds down…

Quickfire Q&A

BL: Any unique talents you’d like to share with us?

ZK: I hike every Sunday. Having made a promise to myself to never spend New Year’s Eve in South Africa, two years ago, I solo hiked in Swaziland and 2 weeks later in Lesotho for my birthday weekend.  I’m an aspiring adventure-junkie, working to cultivate a culture of hiking.

BL: The best piece of advice you’ve ever received…

ZK: To relax and cut myself some slack. I’m learning that you’re always on the right path. When your life is seemingly falling apart you’re meant to be on that path to build resilience and for your faith to be tested.

BL: Which #BossLady are you crushing on?

VUYI ZONDI – SHE’S A TRAILBLAZER AND A #BOSSLADY OF NOTE! SHE’S MANAGED TO BUILD A NATURAL SKINCARE COMPANY, CORIUM SKINCARE FROM SCRATCH, AND IS DOING REMARKABLY WELL FOR HERSELF.

BL: If you had all the money in the world, what’s the first thing you’d buy?

ZK: More property! I’d buy a farm, a significant amount of land, and a beautiful house by the beach – I love the sea.

BL: In 1 word, describe what you’d call this chapter of your life?

ZK: ABUNDANCE
